Merkel Model 280 Petite Frame 28 Gauge Boxlock SxS Shotgun — Mfr. 2008

Presented below is a beautifully designed and very well maintained 28 Gauge side-by-side Merkel shotgun. Per the 4SI barrel stamp, this German manufactured firearm was assembled in April of 2008. The Merkel 280 Series featured Greener cross bolts with double under-barrel locking lugs, finely engraved receivers, Anton and Deely box lock actions, and Holland and Holland ejectors. This highly desirable double shotgun is configured with a pistol grip buttstock measuring at 14 ⅜” LOP capped with the correct plastic buttplate marked “Gebr.Merkel — Suhl” along with partial serrations and ornate screw-heads. The left barrel is stamped “Merkel USA Inc Trussville, AL. — Merkel Jagd- und Sportwaffen Gmbh — Suhhl/Germany” and right barrel stamped “280 28 Ga”.

• Case-hardened receiver beautifully engraved in “Simple Arabesque”

• 28” barrels topped with a solid matted concave rib and single brass bead front sight

  2 ¾” chambers choked Improved Cylinder/Modified

• Non-selective single trigger

This Merkel has been fired no more than one hundred times — a single round of skeet and one memorably “slow” weekend of harassing birds. As the original owner of this fine double, rest assured that this firearm has been well cared for and well maintained as indicated in its unadulterated 98%+ condition grade.
